A man has been charged with sexual assault following an incident in New Whittington.

Just before 5pm on Saturday 4 June officers on patrol in the area were stopped by a group who reported that a teenage girl had been sexually assaulted.

A man was arrested later that evening, and the 20-year-old has been charged with sexual assault, indecent exposure and possession of a knife.

Michael Pick, of Holland Road, Old Whittington appeared at South Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Monday 6 June and was remanded into custody.

He is next due to appear at Derby Crown Court in July.
