Vehicle Crime Advice

Please Don’t be Distracted, as It only takes a moment to steal your belonging…

It can take as little as 10 seconds for a theft to steal something from your car.

The best ways to protect your belonging, is to lock your car whenever you leave it, other steps you can take include:

  • Avoid being distracted by people at or near your vehicle and always keep your valuables safe.
  • Always lock doors and close windows when you’re away from your vehicle, even for a short time.
  • Have a routine ensure you always take the keys out of ignition and car if it’s keyless entry.
  • Don’t leave valuables on display and remove whenever possible. Don’t even leave a jacket where it can be seen.
  • Visible security can be a strong deterrent, so consider steering locks and locking wheel nuts.
  •

Where you park can make a big difference to the safety of your car and your belonging.

Look out for car parks approved by the police safer parking scheme or at www.parkmark.co.uk/car-park-finder

You can find them by locking for their ‘Park Mark’ signs

Report any suspicious activity to police on 101, or 999 if the crime is in action.
