Blagreaves neighbourhood forum update

Please click here to complete the survey

Last night Sergeant Dutton and PCSO Supervisor Coleman attended the Blagreaves neighbourhood forum to give an update from the local neighbourhood Police team regarding good news, crime prevention and our future plans for projects based around the areas priorities.

We spoke about the arrest of a male who had been committing lots of thefts from unsecured vehicles, all across derby city centre, that was located by our Derby West neighbourhood officers and arrested. He has since been charged and received a custodial sentence of 52 weeks.

We also spoke about the introduction of new officers and a new team to the area. PCSO Fairchild has moved to the area in recent weeks and is very keen to organise and attend events across the ward. She is also our lead on Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) and will be organising educational events around that. PCSO Johnson and PC Wheldon, both based at Littleover have formed a youth engagement team and are already having many positive results; their aim is to reduce re-offending of young people, intervene early and to educate and engage with schools, youth groups and young people across the ward.

We discussed our plans for a project, that is just being implemented, around reducing the usage of E-scooters across the ward. It is an emotive subject and that was reflected last night; the users are perceived as dangerous to road and path users, and we dicussed the legality of them, and th eprocess with which we take action. There will be further updates with more detail in the future.

Several residents raised their concerns which we have took on board and begun a patrol strategy dedicated to them. They include:
*Speeding on Oaklands Avenue, Moorway Lane and Pastures Hill. A road safety project will be set up with local officers using handheld speed camera devices.

* E-scooters on Millenium woods- Young people with balaclavas perceived to be drug dealing. A patrol strategy will be in place at the hours described to locate the group and take the appropriate action.

* E-scooters and quad bikes on Clemsons park- As above.

* Bendall Green drug dealing - A patrol strategy will be implemented in the times and locations discussed to provide reassurance and deter individuals. appropriate action will be taken against those involved in any anti social or drug related activity.

We will provide updates regarding the above actions in the weeks and months to come. if there is any information related to the above issues that you can provide additional comments on we would appreciate it.

Many thanks,

Sam 12829
