Dog owners recieve conditional caution

On 18th July 2024 Littleover officers, PC Millward and PC Stevenson attended an incident whereby a dog was located in a critical condition inside a vehicle after being left alone. Temperatures that day had reached up to 28 degrees, this being considerably higher in the vehicle itself. The dog was blue lighted by officers to Highfields Vets where it was given emergency care and miraculously made a full recovery.

After an investigation into the offence, the two individuals involved were interviewed and yesterday received two conditional cautions for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal under section 4 of the animal welfare act 2006. Part of their conditions are to complete a responsible dog owner course. The RSPCA are still involved at this time.
