PCSO Buller and PCSO Catchpole from Glossop SNT (Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team) attended New Mills School, Church Lane, New Mills, today, Friday 6th September.

We had been asked to complete an input on Road Safety for all their year 8 students in an assembly and then a Knife Crime Awareness input ' Shattered - Knives Shatter Lives, in another assembly for the year 10 students later in the morning.

🚦  β€˜Road Safety' Input for year 8 students - we discussed the following

πŸ”Ί Crossing the road safely

πŸ”Ί How to behave on public transport

πŸ”Ί The Fatal 4

πŸ”Ί What is ASB (Anti Social Behaviour) and the link between roads and different types of vehicles.

πŸ”Ί What's the difference? and is there any difference between an E-Scooter and a Car.

πŸ”Ί E-Scooters and the Law - E- Scooters and E-Bikes issues.

πŸ”Ί Nuisance Motorbikes - what's the impact? and what are the consequences?

πŸ”Ί Where can we go then? (ACU - Auto cycle union Bike Sport GB). www.acu.org.uk or Tel 01788566400 - use either to find out more.

πŸ”ͺ β€˜Shattered’ Input for year 10 students - we discussed the following

🟦 Why would you carry a knife?

🟦 Excuses given for carrying a knife!

🟦 What do we mean when we say knife crime?

🟦 Getting to the point!

🟦 The Law & Consequences!

🟦 Who does this {knife crime) affect?

🟦 What can you do ?

🟦 Busting the myths around knife crime!

πŸ—£οΈ We discussed with both groups about how to report ASB & Nuisance and knife Crime by using the below methods and by talking to a trusted adult, either at school or home.

πŸ’» Report online - www.derbyshire.police.uk

πŸ“± Report on Twitter / X @derPolContact

πŸ–₯️ Report on Facebook /DerbyshireConstabulary

πŸ“ž Report by telephone on 101 or 999 in an emergency

We ended by encouraging students to use Fearless.org - which is a specifically designed online tool for young people to report crime and ASB - 100% anonymously online.

Once again a massive thank you from the team to the staff and headteacher for allowing the inputs to take place today and particularly for the students for engaging and taking part today, a credit to the school - well done πŸ‘πŸ»
