E-Scooters: Know the Law Before You Ride

E-scooters are classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs), meaning they are treated as motor vehicles under the law.

This makes them subject to the same legal requirements as cars, including MOT, licensing, tax, and insurance.

Police will no longer issue warnings- riding an e-scooter without meeting these requirements is illegal, and officers will be obliged to seize your scooter without notice.

Make sure you comply with the law to avoid any issues.
