Glossop SNT - Community Speed Watch Event
The Hadfield Community Speed Watch Volunteers completed an event on Manchester Rd, Tintwistle. It was completed between 1.50 pm and 2.50 pm today, Monday 16th September..
๐ข The speed limit on this stretch of road is 30 mph.
A total of 888 vehicles were recorded driving by the team during the event and on this occasion only 3 were recorded speeding today. โ The vast majority of drivers kept to the limit - so thank you to them from the community.
โฉ Speeding is a source of concern for several communities, not only in terms of its potential to kill and seriously injure others, but also the anti- social levels of noise and increased pollution it creates. CSW enables groups of trained community volunteers to directly contribute to reducing the problem of speeding vehicles on local roads.
๐บ Community Speed Watch is not an enforcement tool, it is used to make drivers aware of speeding in certain areas and is to encourage and educate drivers to try to stick to the speed limit. ๐บ The location chosen today had been identified by members of the public previously. it was then passed onto our volunteers as an area where speeding can be an issue. ๐บ Community Speed Watch locations are added to a calendar of events - which can be up to 3 months in advance, for planning purposes. ๐บ They will then take place when our volunteers are able to give up their free time to complete.
๐ฅ We'd like to thank the 2 volunteers who took part and enabled the event to take place, including the support received by members of the public and residents in Tintwistle, during the event this afternoon.
