E-scooters are classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles, so they are treated as motor vehicles and subjected to the same legal requirements, such as; MOT, Licensing, Tax and insurance.
If stopped on a public road, pavement or cycle path - The scooter will be seized as part of a force wide crackdown under section 165A of the Road Traffic Act 1988. This means the scooter will be destroyed in lien with force policy.
