You may have seen in the run up to Christmas on Derbyshire Constabulary face book posts relating to Drink/Drug driving. To protect other road users, we run additional patrols at Christmas, to combat the rise we see in dangerous driving such as this.
SNT's Pc Harvey and Pcso Taylor have been completing proactive patrols this week throughout South Derbyshire, checking vehicles, conducting breath tests and drug swipes, and progressing intelligence. During these patrols the majority of vehicles/persons checked were mostly in order, however - • A vehicle was stopped on Egginton Road Etwall – male driver blew 54 at the roadside (legal limit being 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath) Driver arrested. • Arleston Lane- persons/vehicle searched- Cannabis located on 1 of the males. • Vehicle stopped in Newton Solney- male driver blew 51 at the roadside, driver arrested. • Vehicle checked Twyford Road, Barrow on Trent - Female driver arrested for possession of cannabis and failing a drug swipe - testing positive for cannabis.
Overnight (20th Dec into 21st Dec ) Our local Policing unit at Swadlincote attended :- • A report of a road traffic collision causing minor damage on Burton Road, Repton, the male driver was arrested and charged after being breathalysed and blowing 70. • Union rd. Swadlincote, whilst on route to an unrelated incident a vehicle pulls out straight in front of the marked police vehicle. Male arrested after blowing at the roadside 107 and on suspicion of possessing Controlled substance.
You can do your part in helping us stop drink or drug driving by calling out loved ones' behaviours, and reporting to us when you think someone is at risk. If you see someone who you believe may be driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs and the crime is happening at the time, please ring us on 999.
