#Advice | Open Water Swimming


With the weather forecast to be a very warm few days, we often see an increase in the temptation to have a dip or swim in open water including our local lakes and rivers. 

 

We would warn against people carrying out any open water swimming activities that are not suitably planned and supervised, particularly if you are inexperienced. A very recent coroners report following a fatality in Sunderland has stated that even planned open water swimming events are putting people's lives at risk due to lack of regulation.

 

If however you do plan to swim yourself, we thought it would be timely to share the advice publicised by the Government and RNLI to help everyone stay safe. Please take a look at the links below for safety advice and feel free to share with anyone you know that may be tempted.
