AY UP, ME DUCK

Repton residents went quackers on Sunday 11 May, at the annual Duck Race, which was staged in the village.

Young children and parents gathered to release hundreds of rubber ducks into a local waterway.

The fun event, which was bigger and better than ever before, raises vital funds for Repton Primary School and is organised by the Parents, Teachers and Friends Group.

The race starts at a bridge across a brook in Pinfold Lane in the village. The ducks then swim towards the finish line at the bridge on Brook End.

The first duck home was crowned Repton’s fastest duck.

Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) kick-started a 10-second countdown to the duck drop launch from a Mercia Milk telehandler bucket into the water below.

After the race concluded, hundreds of locals gathered on the Repton School’s cricket field, including the new councillor for the Repton and Stenson Fields division at Derbyshire County Council, along with representatives from Repton Parish Council.
