Road Safety and Traffic

‘Residents of Ashbourne and beyond! Officers have today been conducting safer streets patrols across Ashbourne, Brailsford and Hulland Ward.

Whilst in Brailsford, one adult male took it upon themselves to gesticulate towards officers in a rather unpleasant manner. This action attracted the officers attention to him and his anti-social behaviour. The male was subsequently stopped moments later by police and was caught trying to swap seats with a female passenger in a failed attempt to evade justice. After further investigation, and despite the male’s best efforts to deceive the officers at the roadside, he was reported for driving without valid insurance and driving without due care and attention.

We would like the thank the male for handing himself in by waving at us in the manner that he did and we would like to remind members of the public that honesty is always the best policy!

The offences took place during busy rush hour traffic with children leaving school. The standards of driving must be held to not put other road users and pedestrians at risk and we, on the team, will always enforce these standards to protect the communities of the Derbyshire Dales.
