Court update
You might remember a post/message we sent back in April where PC’s Boniface and Swindell sighted an Audi A3 was sighted at speed, overtaking cars from Ticknall into Hartshorne. Officers had stopped the vehicle suspecting it may be stolen before the vehicle completed a dangerous reverse manoeuvre in order to escape before failing to stop. Officers pursued the vehicle, initially crashing but managing to continue with extensive damage on Dunsmoore Lane into Swadlincote a high speed. The driver travelled through red lights narrowly missing other road users and the wrong way around roundabouts through Swadlincote.
Sean Annakin, of Pennie way, Long Eaton attended Court for the following offences Failing to stop for police, Dangerous Driving, Fail to stop at scene of a collision, Vehicle in dangerous condition and No MOT.
On 17th July – Annakin was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, disqualified from driving until 2029 and must complete an extended test, to pay fine and all court costs.
Comments by the judge – Offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for people and their property, you drove at very high speed, in a built up area, failed to stop for the police and were lucky not to have killed anyone.
SNT officers will continue to target those who offend in our communities and put the public at risk.
