Police have received a complaint regarding the flying of a drone over properties in the Buxton area. The flying of drones over properties can cause nuisance and may be considered as trespass. Peoples privacy must always be respected and legal and safety guidelines must be adhered to. Depending on which category of drone you're flying you may need to stay at least: 50m away from crowds and other people. 150m away from built-up areas (towns and cities) Legal and safety guidelines Maintain distance: You must keep a horizontal distance of at least 50 meters from people, vehicles, and buildings that are not under your control. Stay in sight: Keep the drone in your visual line of sight at all times. Fly below 400 feet: Do not fly your drone over 400 feet (120 meters) from the ground. Avoid crowds: Do not fly over crowds or congested areas. Respect privacy: Do not fly in a way that infringes on people's privacy. Get permission: If you are taking off from private property, you must have permission from the property owner. |
