Whether it's on a site, parked on your driveway or in a lay-by on your travels, it is important to protect your caravan from the eye of a passing thief.

We’ve seen increasing reports of caravan thefts across Derbyshire. Please take a moment to review these key security tips to help protect your property:

🔐 Secure your caravan at all times

Even during short stops, use a hitch lock to prevent it being towed away.

🔒 Fit wheel clamps

A good quality clamp can act as a strong deterrent and makes removal much more difficult.

🖊️ Mark your property

Use a UV pen or security marking fluid to mark items with your postcode—this helps police identify stolen property.

📡 Install extra security

Consider fitting an alarm or tracking device for added protection.

💡 Choose safe locations

Park in well-lit areas and near CCTV where possible. If your caravan or motorhome is on your drive way - try to block this in with another vehicle or obstruction.

🔑 Keep it locked

Always lock your caravan and keep keys stored safely, out of sight and away from doors/windows.

👀 Keep valuables out of sight

Close blinds and curtains to prevent opportunistic theft.

📋 Record serial numbers

Keep a record of appliances and accessories in case of theft.
