Caravan and Motorhome Crime Prevention |
||
|
Whether it's on a site, parked on your driveway or in a lay-by on your travels, it is important to protect your caravan from the eye of a passing thief. Weโve seen increasing reports of caravan thefts across Derbyshire. Please take a moment to review these key security tips to help protect your property:
๐ Secure your caravan at all times Even during short stops, use a hitch lock to prevent it being towed away.
๐ Fit wheel clamps A good quality clamp can act as a strong deterrent and makes removal much more difficult.
๐๏ธ Mark your property Use a UV pen or security marking fluid to mark items with your postcodeโthis helps police identify stolen property.
๐ก Install extra security Consider fitting an alarm or tracking device for added protection.
๐ก Choose safe locations Park in well-lit areas and near CCTV where possible. If your caravan or motorhome is on your drive way - try to block this in with another vehicle or obstruction.
๐ Keep it locked Always lock your caravan and keep keys stored safely, out of sight and away from doors/windows.
๐ Keep valuables out of sight Close blinds and curtains to prevent opportunistic theft.
๐ Record serial numbers Keep a record of appliances and accessories in case of theft.
๐ค Look out for each other Ask neighbours or friends to keep an eye on your caravan and report any suspicious activity.
๐ Report concerns Call 101 for non-emergency police assistance. If a crime is in progress, dial 999 immediately.
Letโs work together to keep your caravans and motorhomes safe and protected!
