E- Scooter Seized during Patrols and the law about them

During patrols by Safer Neighbourhood Team officers this evening in Wirksworth.

This E-Scooter was seized from a rider who had no insurance and further checks showed that the rider had an expired driving licence.

The rider was reported for the offences.

We've tried to get the message out, but unfortunately, we're still seeing people spending a lot of money on electric scooters and then using them illegally on public roads and pavements.

Just to be clear:
* They aren't road legal
* They aren't insured
* They don't have MOT or registration
* And using them on public roads or footpaths is against the law.

Unless you're riding on private land with the landowner's permission, you risk having the scooter seized and ultimately destroyed.

We really don't want people wasting their hard-earned money. Please help us spread the word and think twice before buying or riding one.
