Resident OP SCEPTRE – TAKING ACTION ON KNIFE CRIME
Last week, officers from Dronfield Safer Neighbourhood Team took part in Op Sceptre – a national campaign tackling knife crime and raising awareness of the dangers of carrying weapons.
Throughout the week, we carried out a wide range of proactive and preventative activity in Dronfield, Unstone , Barlow and Holmesfield, including:
Undercover patrols targeting those involved in criminal activity Stop searches where completed when appropriate School talks with local students to educate and inform and keep young people safe Crime prevention stalls engaging with our community Knife sweeps in key areas Amnesty bins placed across the area As a result, over 32 knives were safely handed in during the week Carrying a knife doesn’t protect you – it significantly increases the risk of harm to yourself and others. One decision can change lives forever.
There is no safe reason to carry a knife.
We will continue working proactively with our communities, partners, and young people to educate, prevent, and take action against violence.
