Upcoming heatwave advice |

|
With temperatures set to rise across Derbyshire over the coming days, we`re asking residents to look after themselves and their property during the hot weather.
Hydration tips - drink plenty of water through the day, even if you don`t feel thirsty. Check on vulnerable neighbours - older residents, young children and those with health conditions may struggle more in extreme heat. Keep pets cool - NEVER leave animals in vehicles, even for a short time. Avoid peak sun - try to stay indoors or in the shade between 11am - 3pm when the sun is strongest.
DONT LET THE HEAT COMPROMISE YOUR HOME SECURITY! We know many people like to leave windows and doors open to keep cool - but this can make homes more vulnerable to opportunistic theft. Secure accessible windows - only leave windows open in rooms you`re actively using. Lock doors even when you`re home - summer burglaries can happen when residents are inside but distracted. Garden tools and sheds - put away tolls and lock sheds, they`re often used to force entry. Vehicle security - Don`t leave valuables visible while parked at beauty spots or parks.
We are here to help Our neighbourhood policing teams will be carrying out their patrols - if you spot anything suspicious please report it to us via 101 or online. In an emergency always call 999.
STAY COOL, SAFE STAY AND LOOK OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER.
