Local Priorities 'Speeding Traffic Update' - Community Speed Watch Event held on The A57 Sheffield Rd, Glossop - Wednesday 28th October

Glossop SNT - Community Speed Watch Event

The Hadfield Community Speed Watch Volunteer Team completed an event on the A57 at Sheffield Rd, Glossop this afternoon, Wednesday 28th October.

The event was held their between 2.50 pm and 3.50 pm with the speed limit being 30 mph.

A total 299 vehicles went by the team during the event this afternoon - with 8 of those vehicles being recorded as speeding above 35 mph. with the highest being recorded today at 40 mph. 

The community from the Glossop Town Centre Ward  have identified speeding as one of their Policing Priorites. With Sheffield Rd, Glossop specifically named as a location where speeding occurrs.

We'd like to remind our communities about our ‘Community Voice Surveys’ - These help the Police to find out and identify what the issues are that affect our local communities the most -  they also help to identify more ways that we can support the community  with issues.

Glossop SNT would like to thank the 4 volunteers who gave up their free time today. And also to those residents, from the local area, who took the time to say thank you to them too. The volunteers efforts, by being visable, are assisting to make our roads a bit safer, including helping to reduce speeding in our local communitiies.

The Casualty Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) is changing their name to the Derbyshire Safer Roads Team.

The work of CREST has been instrumental in supporting our aim to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on Derbyshire’s roads.  

Within the past few years, the department has grown from strength to strength (Community Speed Watch is a part) and with that, the need for a clearer name which is transparent and better supports the variety of work the team conducts was needed.
